thoughtsThere is one interesting post (Beyond Smart) from Paul discussing about secret ingredients of sucess, being smart is one of them but there are so many more that are not inborn and can be cultivated. For examples: obsessive interest in something, independent thinking(critical thinking), working hard, enough sleep, avoiding certain kind of stress, writting skill (surprisingly) etc.
I am considered as a smart guy when I was in school, but I am far from being success in academy. I do not have a great interest in academy. By checking box in the listed ingredients above, first thing missing is a obsessive interest in a topic, what do I love to the very fundamentals. Something you would like to dive in not for the money, just for fun and excitment. I think this is the very first question one has to answer when wants to be successful.
Secondly, critical thinking can be cultivated by a few tricts: simply to be less aware what conventiional beliefs are, adopt a attitude of skepticism, fastidiousness about the truth, dont care what others think, curiosity.
Also writting does help arrange your thinking in a much more dedicate way than just thinking in your head.
