thoughtsI want to talk about dedication in this post.
Why do I suddenly want to post about dedication. Well, I was watching a video from Magnus:
In the video, Magnus was free soloing for the first time with Alex (from documentary 'Free Solo'. I strongly suggest you watch it if you haven't). I have a totally different feeling while watching this video than watching <Free solo>. Watching FS is an amazing and thrilling feeling, but you sort of expect Alex to do this kind of crazy stuff because he has devoted all his life into free soloing. Watch Magnus's video is different, because this is the first time Magnus tried free solo, although he is a professional in comp bourdering, and he is elite athelet, free solo is just so different, your life is at stake. It is more than physically challenge, it is mental.
I was so inspired by this video, it brought me to that scenario, I was thinking what I would do or feel in that condition. I was also amazed by the dedication from both Magnus and Alex. It is truely beautifull to see what people can achieve by devoting all their time and thoughts into something.
This brought me to the thinking: dedication seems to be something I have missed in my life. I like body building yet I constantly eat unhealthy and did not try my best during weight training. I like bouldering but I gave up on boulders slightly out of my reach. I like reading yet I haven't read a whole book in a few month. Busy work is an excuse although I know it is a lie.
I am going to dedicate into a few things that I love and not wasting my life on all other meaningless and time consuming stuffs.
Body building, bouldering, reading, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and meditation. This is my list and I will work on it.
