'cookie' archive

reflection

David Goggins's book talked about 'cookie jar' where you get your motivation from previous experience of overcoming difficulties.

I created this post as my personal 'cookie' archive just to remind of myself: I can get through tough situations.

Cookies:

2021/12/27: after training back, I am pretty exhausted, I planned to do some burpees just to try to burn some cal. Initially I aimed at mabye 40ish, it got pretty hard at 30s because I felt sore from saturday's leg traning in quads. I barely hit 40, then it came to my mind that why not do full session to 90+ (which lately I do as cardio), then it became really hard at 50,60, I thought about quitting, then I put my mind to the 'cookie', I told my self I am going to finish this and put this into my cookie archive. At 70, 80. I was devastating, soft legs, feeling dizzy, but I stick to the plan in my head, and you know what, 80+ are not the end of the world. My first 'cookie', will adding more.

2022/1/5: I did 102 burpees in 10mins, it was really hard at around 50-60s, I thought about giving up, but I stick to the plan. It is not going to be ez, but just to remember, after the pain, there is sensation.

2022/2/15: Did 103 burpees in 10mins and it doen't feel like the end of the world. Can do better.

2022/2/18 and 2/19: Max burpee again, 104 in 10mins. go harder. 105 burpees in 10mins, hard but not impossible

2022/3/8: reciting my presentation for next day's deep dive while running, haven't noticed time already passed 20+mins with 12km/h speed.  A few days ago, I was runnning with the same speed and could not catch my breath, this time, my focus was on the presentation and I didn't even break a sweat with the same speed for 20+mins. Once again proves that it is all mindset and focus. When you shift your thought away from "pain", you won't even notice it.

2022/3/17: city gym and other public area shut down again because of covid. So started home workout. Planed 10 burpees and 5 pull ups every 2 mins for 20 sets. When half way there I was really tired and eager to give up, but I stick to the initial plan and didn't doubt myself, got through it. total 200 bupees and 100 pull up, first time did these much. And after, it is not that hard. Keep it to the plan.

2022/11/14: resisted the urges to eat unhealthy, the temptation is everywhere, isolate it.
